News broke from Germany’s Euro 2016 training camp earlier this week that Chelsea target ,and current Roma centre back, Antonio Rudiger will not only miss the tournament now but a chunk of next season after suffering an ACL injury during a training session with Die Mannschaft. With the extensive scouting knowledge all the top European clubs have in the modern era, Chelsea obviously have other options on the table, but Rudiger appeared to be the number one defensive target for the Stamford Bridge boys. I take a look at who they are and whether or not they are the right fit for Conte’s new-look Chelsea side. Here are just five of the options Chelsea will be looking at over the course of the summer, all with exceptional ability who, I believe, would slide straight into the current Chelsea side and get the club back into the league positions they need to be in. Let us know who you think and want Chelsea to sign this summer.
#1.Leonardo Bonucci
Bonucci has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge from almost the second Antonio Conte was announced as manager for the 2016-17 season. The rumours were at their peak when it looked like John Terry was going to leave with his contract expiring, but since Terry was offered a new deal the rumours have slowly faded. Conte will obviously be heading off to the Euros with the Juventus defender and will, hopefully, spend the next few weeks selling London to the 29 year old. If Chelsea do switch to the 3-5-2 that Conte adores, Bonucci would be the ideal fit. Having played in that system for Juventus since joining in 2010, and when Conte joined the Old Lady in 2011, Bonucci became a regular and has stuck around ever since, regardless of manager and system played.
